Developing Leadership Skills Through Out-of-School Time Programs

Afterschool and summer camp programs offer a unique and valuable opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills in a supportive and engaging environment. The ROCK OST program provides a platform for students to explore their interests, build confidence, and learn essential life skills. Teens in the ROCK OST have the opportunity to develop and lead clubs based on their interests. Clubs give youth a voice in developing their experience in our programs. By taking charge of their clubs and activities, students learn planning and initiative, lead by example and understand the impact of their actions on others.

Leadership is not just about leading; it’s also about working effectively with others. The ROCK OST provides numerous opportunities for students to collaborate with their peers. Through games, sports, clubs and activities, students learn to communicate, negotiate, and work towards common goals. These experiences help them understand the dynamics of teamwork and the importance of supporting  their peers.

The ROCK OST staff and volunteers serve as role models for youth in our programs. They provide guidance, support, and inspiration, helping students to see their potential.
