There is a wealth of information on the benefits of participation in afterschool programs for students. The ROCK Out-of-School Time (OST) program helps students prepare for their academic futures. Research from the Harvard School of Education notes that students who participate in afterschool programs have improved attendance, reduced disciplinary actions, better performance in school and homework completion, and deeper engagement in learning.
Afterschool with The ROCK
The ROCK Out-of-School Time provides afterschool opportunities for middle and high school students. We currently host OST sites at Jefferson, Northeast, Meridian, and Delta College and we look forward to opening a new location for high school students at our Eastman Avenue location this year.
Last year, students in our OST program were able to complete 1,000 hours of homework while in program, leaving them with free time to spend with family when they return home.
Learning New Skills
Students in our OST program can expand their horizons through weekly STEM activities. Afterschool and summer programs on campus at our Delta College site allow students to explore a college campus and picture their own post-secondary futures.
Participants in our afterschool program can follow their own interests with student-led clubs. These clubs allow teens in our OST program to practice leadership and creativity.
